Description
Fun scrunchies sewn by refugee women at a Dallas nonprofit, VTC. Scrunchies are made from soft cotton fabric that is plant-dyed and hand-blockprinted by artisans in Pakistan. These make great gifts for teachers and moms.
Care: Store your accessories in a pouch, sewn by VTC’s refugee sewers. Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Air dry.
Note: Blockprinting is done by making prints on fabric by hand with the aid of carved wood blocks. This tradition is thousands of years old, preserved and practiced in Sindh region of Pakistan and other part of South Asia. Some print may be smudged, or dyes (especially black or indigo) may run a little, but will stabilize after a few washes.
Two crafts, made by hand
Each of our pieces is made with one of two techniques, by different artisans: blockprinted by hand with wooden blocks, or embroidered by hand. Many of our hair accessories are then hand-sewn in Dallas by refugee women building new lives here.
