For a few years now, we have dreamed about expanding into wall art.
If you've been with us long enough, you've heard us tease it and then go dark on this subject for a long time.
In 2023, we started working with an artisan partner in Pakistan on our wall art. After a few samples were made, and they were fabulous, we decided to let go of that artisan partner for a few reasons: lack of fair wages for artisans, and lack of communication.
Then, we were fortunate to connect with another cooperative in 2024. Led by Farhana, these women artisans made beautifully hand-embroidered pieces of art on hand-woven textile called khaddar, a traditional canvas-type material made in Pakistan.
Once these embroidered textiles were completed. we looked for the best ways to hang these textiles. And got stuck on this for another year.
This week, we finally discovered a local favorite - Jerry's Artorama.
They suggested using a stretcher kit to help stretch the textiles and then frame the stretched textile.
The result: gorgeous handmade framed art to hang on the walls!
Here is a blog we wrote in 2024 about some of the things we tried, including a family member to labor in the garage for hours and make wood frames. Those did not work out.
We are excited to bring beautiful art to your homes in 2026. Please follow us on Instagram for updates and sign up for the monthly newsletter.
